Beginner Hoof Camp July 2008

We just completed "Beginner Hoof Camp". It was Cristino's first camp. Fredi and I had a lot of fun. It was the hottest week of the year. We could barely ride in the outdoor arena because the heat was so brutal. The horses dropped so much weight, they sweat their backs off. Now I have the daunting task of trying to put the weight back on them.

Fredi and I took turns with the baby between the baby sitters, and somehow managed to get Cristino through it. The girls in the pictures that are wearing shorts and flip flops are the baby sitters. They would come out and pet the horses when I was feeding the baby.

It was a fun week and I thought I would like to show off the fun we had. Some of the girls never rode a horse before and by the end of the week they were even riding bareback.

Enjoy the slide show!

Sounds fun! I've never ridden bareback... I've heard some people call it comfy and some call it really
un-comfy. which is it???

Well, it actually depends on the horse. If the horse has a bony back it is un-comfy, but if the horse has a nice round back it's super comfy.

Regardless of the horse, you can really learn how to feel the horse without a saddle!
