How do horses have babies?

I was asked this question by a young child, who by the way was not my own. When she asked me I was thinking, "Aw gee, I am so not ready to be answering this question."

I thought for a moment and then responded as "G" rated as I could.

"Well, you look in a catalog and pick out a stallion that you want to be the babies Daddy. Next, you buy some seeds from the stallions owner. The stallions owner then ships the seeds in the mail. When the seeds arrive, the vet plants them in the mare who will be the babies Mommy. Then, a baby grows from the seeds in the mares belly. After that, the baby is born and we have a foal."

After that the child wanted more answers like, "What do the seeds look like?" I said, "You will have to ask your parents the rest of your questions!" "Whew, thank God for modern medicine." I was praying she didn't ask me about the baby in my belly!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
