Kids and geldings, what can you do.

When geldings get relaxed, be prepared for the questions.

Recently one of the kids at the barn who is pretty new to horses, was checking out one of our geldings in the arena. He was pretty relaxed and extending himself.

The little girl said "That pink thing is really creeping me out, what is that?" What do you say to that? She asked my sister and not me fortunately, and my sister changed the subject. That question brought back a childhood memory of my other sister.

When my sister Leanne was little, our farm was on the small side, and the horses were really close to the house. My Dad always had a lot of geldings so growing up we were surrounded by them.

In kindergarten my sister drew a picture of horses and the picture had the horses with piles of manure behind them and with their "dinky's out" as she called them.

When the picture came home, the teacher had a note written on it, "When I asked Leanne why she drew this picture this way she said, "That's what it looks like.""

Kids say the darndest things that's for sure!

I don't know why no one else has said anything, but that is great! When I was little, my mom's friend boarded with us, and whenever they stretched out, she would always slap them and say "Put that away!". I never could figure out why our horses were allowed to stretch out their peepees. lol. I love kids...thanks for posting

Thank you! I'm so glad you said that because I was like, should I or shouldn't I post this? Then I thought, why not, it's innocent enough and it made me laugh.

You're welcome and thanks for the reassurance!
