October 2008 Events and Horse Happenings

It's fall and the summer has gone bye-bye.  Fall is so beautiful but instead of welcoming it with open arms I greet it with dread.  I know winter is not far behind and soon I will be hammering ice in the water buckets.  For those of you who live in warmer climates, I envy you!

October does come with some fun events to inspire you though the cold winter months...

The All American Quarter Horse Congress October October 4 - 26
The Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio
The worlds largest single breed horse show.  Everything you ever wanted to see and do that pertains to Quarter Horses.  It's a who's who in the industry.  Be sure and check out the class schedule, lectures, and demonstrations.

Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Exhibition Center Harrisburg, PA
The largest multi breed horse show in America.  Highlight - Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride.   The Pennsylvania National Horse Show also boasts some of the best horse show shopping.

Verizon Center Washington, DC
See the Olympic Champions among other top riders and horses compete for over $415,000 in prize money and Championship Titles.  Sign up for barn night or take a free pony ride (Saturday)  There will be Dressage, Pony Pavilion, Puissance (High Jump), Grand Prix Show Jumping, Terrier Races,  and don't forget shopping!

Women and Horses Expo October 24 - 26
Missouri State Fairgrounds  Sedalia, Missouri
It's nice to see an expo dedicated to women and their horses.  Check out Julie Goodnight, Donna Maye West and many more , there is a women only versatility challenge and an art contest to name a few of the happenings.  Did I mention there is also shopping?

There are many more expos and clinics going on all around the world.  Be sure and check out one near you for a big dose of inspiration!
